Kapnos Airport Shuttle: Protaras & Ayia Napa to Larnaca Airport Guide

By GoVisitProtaras.com · Information checked against Kapnos Airport Shuttle's official website in October 2026

The Kapnos Airport Shuttle is a scheduled, shared coach service that connects Larnaca International Airport (LCA) with Protaras, Pernera and Ayia Napa. Instead of paying for a taxi or arranging a private transfer, you buy a single seat on a fixed departure at a fixed per-person fare. Kapnos has been running shared airport transfers in Cyprus since 2008.

It suits couples, families and solo travellers who are happy to walk a few minutes from a bus stop to their hotel and want a predictable price. It is less suitable if you need door-to-door drop-off, a flight outside the timetable, or lots of oversized luggage.

Important: Kapnos adjusts departures by season and demand, so always confirm your exact departure time in the live booking system before you travel. We have deliberately not copied a timetable into this article, because a copied one goes out of date quickly.

Protaras to Larnaca Airport

Where to board in Protaras

The shared shuttle does not collect from individual hotels. It uses two fixed stops serving the Protaras and Pernera resort area:

  • Pernera Avenue stop: on Pernera Avenue, roughly 150 metres from the Windmills hotel.
  • Protaras Avenue stop: the bus stop by McDonald's on Protaras Avenue.

We could not verify exact street addresses for these two stops, so search the stop names in Google Maps or check the stop map in the Kapnos booking form before the day of travel. If you are staying in central Protaras, walk to the nearer stop, or take a short local taxi if you have heavy bags. Hotel or villa pickup is only possible with a separate private transfer arranged directly with Kapnos.

Timetable

The live timetable is generated by the Kapnos booking system for your chosen date, so we cannot responsibly reproduce it here. What Kapnos publishes:

Departure from ProtarasArrival at Larnaca AirportApprox. journey time

Planning rule of thumb: with a roughly 60-minute ride and Kapnos's recommended 90-minute airport buffer, choose a departure that reaches Larnaca at least 90 minutes before your flight, and add a safety margin in summer traffic. Be at your stop about 10 minutes before departure.

Price

Kapnos lists €15 per adult between Protaras and Larnaca Airport, €5 per child (2–12), and free travel for infants under 2. Confirm the fare when you book.

Ayia Napa to Larnaca Airport

Departure stops

  • Ayia Napa Square: Arch. Makariou III 19.
  • Nissi Avenue: number 80, in front of the Sunwing Sandy Bay hotel.

Choose the stop closest to your accommodation when you book. Door-to-door service is only available as a private transfer.

Fare, luggage and tickets

Kapnos says one-way fares start from €13 per adult. The luggage allowance is one 20 kg suitcase plus hand luggage. Extra or oversized items (sports equipment, pushchairs, bicycle bags) are carried only if there is space, so contact Kapnos beforehand if you have any. Small pets are welcome in an airline-approved crate at no charge, according to Kapnos.

How early to leave

Kapnos recommends a departure that reaches Larnaca Airport at least 90 minutes before your flight. Arrive at the Ayia Napa stop about 10 minutes before the bus leaves.

Larnaca Airport to Protaras and Ayia Napa

  1. Land, clear passport control and collect your luggage. Follow the signs towards the Bus Exit.
  2. Find the Kapnos counter in the arrivals hall near the exit. Pre-booked passengers can go straight through to the Kapnos stop outside the terminal; you can also buy a ticket at the counter, subject to availability.
  3. Board at the bus stop directly outside the terminal. Be there at least 10 minutes before your departure time. Look for Kapnos-branded vehicles, and ask counter staff to confirm the right bus if unsure.
  4. Get off at your stop. In Protaras the drop-offs are Pernera Avenue and Protaras Avenue. In Ayia Napa they are Ayia Napa Square and Nissi Avenue.

Journey time: about 65 minutes to Protaras and 44–55 minutes to Ayia Napa in normal traffic, via the A3 motorway.

Departures from the airport: Kapnos states that Larnaca-to-Ayia Napa/Protaras services run from 02:30 to 23:25 daily, with the first Friday departure on the Ayia Napa route at 04:00 instead. Confirm exact times for your date.

Should you book ahead? Yes if you can. Kapnos advises booking at least a few days ahead, and about a week ahead in June, July and August, when popular departures fill up. Same-day seats are never guaranteed.

How to book

  1. Open the Kapnos Airport Shuttle website and choose your origin and destination.
  2. Pick your stop (for example Pernera Avenue or Protaras Avenue).
  3. Select your date and departure time from the live timetable.
  4. Enter the number of adults, children (2–12) and infants.
  5. Add contact details and pay through the secure online payment page.

Online booking closes about 60 minutes before departure. Tickets can also be bought at the airport counter on arrival.

Cancellations: check before you pay

Kapnos's own pages are not consistent on this point. The homepage promises free cancellation or amendment up to 24 hours before departure, while its Protaras and Ayia Napa guides mention a €1 per-ticket fee for cancellations made at least 24 hours ahead. Cancelling later than 24 hours, or not showing up, means no refund. Read the terms shown at checkout.

Kapnos shuttle vs taxi

A shared shuttle is usually the cheapest direct option. For comparison, a Cyprus Mail airport guide (September 2026) puts taxis and private transfers at roughly €50–€70 to Ayia Napa and €60–€80 to Protaras, depending on vehicle and address. The trade-off is that the shuttle stops at fixed points, so you may walk or take a short taxi for the last stretch.

Practical tips

  • Luggage: Keep to one 20 kg bag plus hand luggage per person. Check your airline's own allowance separately.
  • Child seats: Kapnos does not supply child or baby seats on shared services. If you plan to bring your own, contact Kapnos before travel.
  • On board: Most vehicles have air conditioning and free Wi-Fi, and many have USB charging, but equipment varies by vehicle.
  • Late or early flights: If your flight falls outside the published first/last departures, consider a private transfer.
  • Contact: For special requests or private transfers, use the contact form on the Kapnos booking site.

Sources and accuracy note

This guide is based on Kapnos Airport Shuttle's official website and its published Protaras and Ayia Napa transfer pages (June 2026), plus a Cyprus Mail Larnaca Airport guide (September 2026) for the taxi price comparison. The Kapnos live timetable and fare calculator could not be read as static text, so departure times for the Protaras and Ayia Napa to Larnaca direction are intentionally not listed. Always confirm times, fares and cancellation terms with Kapnos before travelling.
